Guys, I received a rose!
But let me back up a bit, because it’s a beautiful story.
I have never been in a real relationship, and I definitely have never been pursued by a Godly man. Throughout my life I have gone in and out of being okay with this. Currently I am completely okay with it. This is because the Lord has shown me that I am perfect just the way I am, in all the beautiful ways He created me. Along with this, I am in a time and place where I am seeking after what He wants from me and for me in my life.
One of my classes helps me to do this in a different way. We meet every Monday in Gainesville, and spend time in listening prayer for who we should talk to or where we should go.
This past Monday, the only sense I got was that I needed to be open to what I was going to see and experience. Pretty vague. Not exactly helpful.
Our instructor, Justin, felt like we were supposed to go to a grocery store. So we piled in the car and went to one that was nearby. As we got out, we split into smaller teams. We walked in the front doors, greeted by a colorful display of flowers and roses.
My teammate, Casey, instantly got excited. She told me how she had seen a pink rose during our listening prayer. She felt like we were supposed to get a rose and give it to someone.
However, we had no money with us.
Enter discomfort.
Then a sweet grandfatherly man named William came over to ask if we were finding everything alright. He was the manager of the store, and Casey had the courage to tell him about our class and that we were looking to find a rose to give away.
When she said it could be scrap flower, I felt much better. Then we were at least not taking their best flowers.
William went back to talk to some people and see what he could do to help us.
As we were waiting, we met up with the other half of our team. We told them about what we were doing and about the flower. Justin said that he felt like William was going to bring two roses, and that they were for us.
After a few minutes passed, we saw William walking towards us carrying a pink and a red rose. He handed them to us with a big smile on his face.
All discomfort faded, and I couldn’t help the huge smile that spread across my face.
Casey and I kept looking at each other, smiling and feeling so very loved.
That’s right! Jesus gave me a rose!
I was expecting a scrap flower that had seen it’s better days.
But instead He gave me a ROSE!
Jesus is telling me not to settle. Not to settle in my dreams, or for the man I will one day have the honor of marrying. He is also showing me how He wants me to be pursued.
And it is the best feeling I have ever had!
