A few weekends ago, I participated in an intensive training all weekend for short term mission trip leaders. I didn’t really know why I was there.
Well, okay that’s not completely true.
I know God is calling me into leadership. And I did have two different people mention that it would be a good training for me to go through. But I didn’t have a set place I would like to lead a trip, or anywhere that I feel called to lead a trip.
I went to the training anyway. It was a jam-packed four day weekend of information, meeting new people and lots of activities.
All of the speakers gave so many good tips and instructions on how to lead a group well. And the binder with lots of handouts helped my mind get to the place where I was feeling more equipped to lead a trip.
However, the part I most enjoyed were the team building activities. First of all, if you know me, you know I love being active. And because I am a hands-on learner, going out and doing these things helped me to see how different people interacted.
The best part of it was that this was where I felt my leadership skills came out.
Observing to see what needs to be done.
Trying things out to see if they will work.
Talking to the team to see who is best suited for each part of the task.
I am starting to see how it all comes together in the way God has specifically designed me to lead. It is exciting, and I am ready to connect more pieces!
